In March 1974, Mr and Mrs Sanders held a founding meeting to establish RAFC. As there was no demand for football at that stage the Randburg Municipality could only make provision for grounds in 10 years time. IR Griffiths was then offered as an alternative and the first training session took place with a few borrowed footballs and five boys, which included Robert Giovanni, Gianluca Monzeglio and David Sadler.

Financial assistance was kindly bestowed on the club by former town's mayor (1973), Mr Howard Green. After being approached by Mrs Sanders, Mr Green not only provided the initial funds but invaluable council knowledge. An to top it all he also loaned, free of charge, as zozo hut that was used as a tuck-shop and storage room.
