In 1978, Mr Sanders and Mr Green were awarded Honorary Life Presidency. After two years at IR Griffiths, the teams had grown too big and alternative grounds were sought. By now the need for municipal grounds was activated, much earlier than originally planned.

Victory Park became a temporary home base and all matches were played away. Facilities were no offered from the rugby section and consisted of an area the length of two rugby fields. Lights too were eventually offered when it became clear that the football club with no lights had more teams than the rugby club with two sets of lights. RAFC started with 3 teams, 2 U12's and 1 U10. Within 3 months, 40 boys were training. Concerns of being too ambitious were unfounded as the U10's were unbeaten and not concede a goal that year. First assistant coach was 16 year old, Steve Sadler.
